Troy Wingard: Almost 40 years ago, Marion Mason taught me how to see myself as unique, and even more importantly, how I can use my own thoughts, ideas, and experiences as a foundation to create art.  I strive to  sustain what I learned from him by capturing the subtle uniqueness of each individual I draw, as well as to infuse much of my own personal symbolism within each portrait. Marion’s friendship and instruction made an indelible impression upon me as a young man and together they inspired me to become the person I am today.
Marion Mason: During my long HS Art teaching career I had the pleasure of mentoring many fine students with innate talent and skills. Among the very best students was Troy Wingard. He showed exemplary artistic talent and skills and always had a positive attitude. Our lives became intertwined after he graduated, and we became friends. We continued to interact as professional artists over the many years… and eventually became the closest of friends. He has been a blessing in my life since 1986.
My sculpture is all about the aesthetics of form. Through my non-objective style sculpture I express the foundational art concepts of contrast and movement. What the viewer sees in my work is fine with me as long as it includes the appreciation of the simple beauty of the forms.
