Between September 30 – October 11, four German artists from Kaiserslautern and six Columbia artists will be creating a permanent public Gesamtkunstwerk, a collaborative work of art, on and for the grounds of Columbia’s Stormwater Studios. The artwork is one component of an elaborate program under the monikerHeimat/Homethat commemorates both the 30thanniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and the 100thanniversary of the establishment of Bauhaus, the enormously influential art school in Germany.

This exhibition of quilts by Janet Swigler uses her process of cutting free-hand and working intuitively without the use of templates, honoring the tradition of quilting and shows the versatility of the medium.

NEWS FROM OUR RESIDENT ARTISTS
Heidi Darr-Hope will present her Zsk Stickmaschinen Global Vision Award embroidery to Dr. Henry N. Tisdale at the Columbia World Affairs Council Award Ceremony on October 23rd.
Every year since 1994, Heidi Darr-Hope’s Zsk Stickmaschinen embroideries have been presented as the Global Vision Award to a leader whose contributions have made a significant impact on projecting South Carolina globally. Heidi, along with several other international artists traveled to Krefeld, Germany for an art & Industry exchange. October 23rd is the award ceremony and this year’s recipient is Dr. Henry N. Tisdale.

Stormwater artists Eileen Blyth, Heidi Darr-Hope, and Kirkland Smith are participating with over 40 artists in different disciplines in The Supper Table, the Jasper Project’s most ambitious project to date! A SC-centric homage to the 40th anniversary of Judy Chicago’s Dinner Party, the Supper Table honors 12 women from SC history who devoted their lives to breaking barriers and improving humankind:
