Laurie McIntosh’s Tidal Transformations: My World in Linocut Opens at Stormwater Studios

South Carolina artist Laurie McIntosh debuts her latest exhibition, Tidal Transformations: My World in Linocut, at Stormwater Studios from September 10–20, 2025.

Featuring more than 40 works, the exhibition highlights McIntosh’s use of the linocut reduction technique—often called “suicide printing”—and introduces mixed media pieces made from the leftover materials and fragments generated during the printmaking process.

“Linocut requires intricate planning,” says McIntosh. “Using its byproducts lets me work from a more spontaneous, intuitive place.”

McIntosh holds a B.A. in Fine Art from the University of South Carolina and has trained at institutions including Penland School of Crafts. She is known for large, thematic bodies of work inspired by personal narrative and visual exploration. Her previous exhibitions include All the In-Between: My Story of Agnes and Gatherings: My World in Linocut at Stormwater Studios in 2023. She operates a working studio in Camden, SC.

Stormwater Studios is located at 413 Pendleton Street in Columbia, SC 29201. The gallery will be open daily during this exhibition from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Join us for the opening reception on Wednesday, September 10, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
