Join the About Face Group on Monday, October 14 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. for an exciting and immersive evening of drawing and sketching. Specializing in portraiture and the human figure, each session features two live models posing for two hours, giving you plenty of time to bring your artistic vision to life!

Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just starting out, this is the perfect opportunity to refine your skills in a welcoming and dynamic community. Bring your sketch pad, drawing supplies, and even your own easel if you’d like. A $10 fee covers participation, but first-timers get in free! “Out of Our Minds” by Clay Burnette and Rick Smoak

“Out of Our Minds” brings together the unique artistic perspectives of fiber artist Clay Burnette and photographer Rick Smoak. Clay, a self-taught basketmaker with nearly 50 years of experience coiling longleaf pine needles, has exhibited his work in more than 260 venues, including prestigious shows at the Smithsonian and SOFA. He will also display handwoven scarves alongside his baskets. Rick Smoak, a photographer with more than 40 years of experience, presents fine art photography inspired by the natural beauty of SC, spanning from traditional black-and-white to color and composite images.

The exhibition showcases their shared love for nature, with Clay focusing on the tactile art of coiling and Rick capturing the world through his camera lens. Both artists challenge the boundaries of their mediums to reveal the beauty they see in the world around them.

The exhibition runs from Friday, October 18 to Sunday, October 27, with gallery hours from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Join us for the opening reception on Thursday, October 17, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Artist Talk on Saturday, October 19 at 2 p.m.
