“Now and Zen,” by Stephen Chesley, Boyd Saunders, and Russell Jeffcoat

“Now and Zen,” featuring the work of Stephen Chesley, Boyd Saunders, and Russell Jeffcoat, presents a compelling convergence of artistic visions, reflecting both the immediacy of nature and meditative contemplation. This exhibition showcases the diverse talents of three established South Carolina artists whose unique styles explore the connection between nature, place, and personal reflection.

Join us for the opening reception on Friday, November 15, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., to celebrate their work and engage with these dynamic artists. The exhibition will run from Wednesday, November 13 through Sunday, November 17, with gallery hours from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Capturing Fall Color for All Ages

Join us for the second installment of the Native Plants for Pollinators Series at Stormwater Studios. Capturing Fall Color for All Ages with Stormwater Gardener Karen Murphy will take place on Sunday, November 17, from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Participants of all ages are invited to draw, paint, and photograph the vibrant fall colors in our Native Plant Garden. Karen will lead a guided tour of the grounds, sharing her knowledge of native plants, then encourage sketchers, painters, and photographers to capture the beauty of the season through their artwork.

Karen is providing water, pencils, and watercolor paints, and Stormwater will have chairs available to borrow. Participants are encouraged to bring additional art supplies, like sketch pads, watercolor paper, clipboards, easels, and any other materials they may need.

Stormwater Studios is located in the heart of the Congaree Vista District at 413 Pendleton Street, Columbia, SC, just behind One Eared Cow Glass and Lewis & Clark Studios. Come enjoy the natural beauty of the garden while exploring your creativity!

This event is free to attend, and donations to support our native plant garden are appreciated.

This event is proudly sponsored by the Richland County Conservation Commission (RCCC).

Guests can visit artists in their studios and discover the creativity and diversity that make Stormwater Studios a center for artistic inspiration.

This year, we welcome the USC School of Visual Art and Design Artists in Residence, who will open the SVAD studio for community interaction. The Pop-Up Art Booth also features works by artists Lori Isom and Maya Smith.

Returning to Vista Lights, The Namu Drum Company is bringing vibrant energy to Vista Lights with a live drumming performance. Kathryn Van Aernum’s interactive Draw Together Strangers activity will invite attendees to connect by creating portraits of one another, adding a fun, artistic twist to meeting new people. The Heart of Columbia Chorus will perform festive songs in front of the Christmas tree, adding to the holiday cheer.

Our neighboring artisans, Lewis + Clark Studios and One Eared Cow Glass, are joining in the festivities. Stop by One Eared Cow Glass for live glass blowing demos and light refreshments, or visit Lewis + Clark Studios to view their custom-designed lamps, sculptures, and Chargebots.
