November Events at Stormwater Studios

“Recent Paintings,” by Nita Moore Exhibition

Nita Moore is pleased to announce her upcoming exhibition at Stormwater Studios, marking her first show there since her last Columbia exhibit at Gallery 80808 in 2016. Her work has since evolved, incorporating more plein air and imaginative elements. The exhibition will primarily feature landscape paintings, both plein air studies and studio pieces, inspired by the Carolina coast, travels to England, and her surroundings in Wisconsin. It also includes new plein air still lifes, adding freshness to her longstanding engagement with the genre, as well as portraits, showcasing her skills honed through live model sessions.
Nita, a Columbia native now residing in Milwaukee, WI, studied classical drawing and painting in New York and draws inspiration from artists like Rembrandt, Inness, Dewing, and Turner.
The exhibition runs from Wednesday, November 6 to Sunday, November 10, with gallery hours from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The opening reception will take place on Thursday, November 7, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The artist will be present in the gallery on Friday, November 7, and Saturday, November 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

If landscapes are your thing, you will find plenty to peruse in works by Stephen Chesley, Michel McNinch, and Gerard Erley. Eileen Blyth will show her abstracts and found-object sculptures, while Heidi Darr-Hope’s paintings take you into the realm of spiritual narratives. David Yaghjian’s figurative paintings and sculptures capture both the real and the surreal elements of humans’ (and sometimes other primates’) lives. Pat Gilmartin will be displaying her botanical prints created using sunlight to expose the images on UV-light sensitive paper and textile media.
There’s art for every appetite at Stormwater Studios, and it will all be on display during our Vista Lights semi-annual show.
