Nina Rastgar: 2025 USC SVAD Post-MFA Resident at Stormwater Studios

We are pleased to announce that Nina Rastgar has been awarded the 2025 University of South Carolina School of Visual Art and Design Post-MFA Residency at Stormwater Studios. The residency will take place from May 15 to August 15, 2025, culminating in a solo exhibition at the Stormwater Studios gallery from Wednesday, August 6 through Sunday, August 10.

Nina is a multidisciplinary artist whose work investigates identity, culture, and sociopolitical structures through the lens of their Iranian heritage. Their MFA thesis explores themes of gender and belonging, integrating complex theoretical frameworks into a practice that spans sculpture, installation, and performance. Working with materials such as wood, clay, metal, and their own body, Nina materializes questions surrounding cultural identity and the human experience.

Their work has been internationally recognized, with exhibitions at the Royal Ontario Museum and publications in Art Market and Yale University Press. We are excited to support Nina’s continued artistic growth and look forward to seeing their practice evolve during the residency.
