Malik Greene: Solo Exhibition at Stormwater Studios

Stormwater Studios proudly announces the solo exhibition of Malik Greene, the inaugural artist-in-residence for the organization’s BIPOC Residency Program. The exhibition will be on display from Thursday, July 11 to Tuesday, July 23, with an opening reception on Saturday, July 20 from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Malik Greene, a self-taught oil painter, uses his art to explore and convey his personal history through intimate portraits of family, moments, and memories. His work provides a profound insight into his experience as a black man and artist. Greene explains, “I create as an act of searching, investigating my cognition and the societal implications affecting those who look and feel as I do. I intend to use this studio residency for diving deeper into creating works that expand and supplement representation for my community at large.”
During his residency, Greene aimed to develop original stories that captured the diverse facets of black life, highlighting the nuances often overlooked in figurative paintings and literature. His art not only serves as a personal exploration but also as a broader commentary on representation and identity.
Join us at Stormwater Studios to experience the powerful and evocative works of Malik Greene, celebrating his journey and contributions to the artistic community.
