Zachary Diaz – POSTPONED until further notice
June 3, 2020 @ 10:00 am - June 14, 2020 @ 5:00 pm
On June 3rd, Zachary Diaz unveils a large collection of drawings, paintings, and writings illustrating the belief that all facets of life are connected. Entitled “Sonder”, this body of work is inspired by the realization that while we walk through the madness of our lives, every person we pass by is doing the same. Regardless of race, gender, religion or any other separation from obvious similarities, solidarity is not just a beautiful idea, but a meaningful pursuit; one in which we subconsciously take part in every day. However, to fully connect with another, we must be willing to share who we are and what we’ve been through.
Diaz fulfills this obligation through his art by pulling from personal experiences in an attempt to connect with the audience emotionally and intellectually. Reflections in the form of diary entries, memories and dreams are now shared on canvas and paper to portray an honest journey through life lessons, love and loss in a way that fuses traditionally themed compositions with an untamed expressionistic flair.
Wings flying through euphoric skies stretching for freedom; hands reaching in hope and desperation; love letters turned to an untimely goodbye; clouds consuming everything in sight, all while uncovering mysteries that hide in the picture plane. The technique used to create this series calls on multiple forms of expression to uniquely portray its message. All are encouraged to visit Stormwater Studios June 3rd – 14th, 2020. The artist talk and reception will be held on June 5th from 6 – 9pm.
