Sonya Brown demonstrates hand weaving – POSTPONED until further notice

Sonya Brown will give a presentation on a technique called “shadow weave”.  She will bring a number of samples and also at least two looms so people can observe the technique and give it a try, if they would like.

Shadow weave is a technique that relies on alternating warp and weft threads with strong contrast.  The alternating light and dark threads create unexpected geometric patterns and optical illusions that can enhance even the most basic weaving structures.  Simple patterns result in a checkerboard effect while more complicated versions can create the illusion of three dimensions.
