SCARY Picture Show

Opening Reception:  Friday, October 30, 2020 / 6-9 pm

Like the work of American surrealist Clarence John Laughlin, or characteristic of Dadaism and later abstraction, this show challenges the photographer artist to offer allegorical commentaries on the culture and politics of our day, to illustrate the “horrors” of our collective time, and to address personal fears and haunting mysteries often staged as psychological narratives.

This show is looking for images that challenge the public’s sensibility and complacency about the contemporary world, to think critically and break the rules of how the photographic image is to be perceived.  Images that add the hallmarks of the element of surprise; unexpected juxtaposition; a distortion of reality; a dream-like subject matter; interest in subconscious and the magical, metaphorical and instinctive are encouraged.
