“Sky Lapse” is an extension of Addison Graham’s thesis project, “This Must Be Ektachrome.” The monochromatic blue, pink, and purple acrylic pieces represent the ethereal clouds captured in blue hour photography — a fleeting moment just before sunrise or after sunset when the sun is low on the horizon. Inspired by the warm color palette of time-shifting and golden hour photography, these elements come together to form an outdoor installation that explores landscape, light, time, and perception.

Addison’s work is deeply connected to her experiences with awe-inspiring landscapes, from the Ouachita to the Blue Ridge Mountains, which she has explored since childhood. Through “Sky Lapse,” Addison aims to remind people to appreciate nature and recognize its coexistence with human inventions.

“Let the Light In” Exhibition by Addison Graham

August 21, 2024 – September 8, 2024
Opening Reception: August 22, 2024 from 5 pm – 7 pm
Gallery Hours: Wednesday to Sunday from 11 am – 3 pm

“Let the Light In” invites viewers into a world where art meets science. Using remnants from her thesis project, “This Must Be Ektachrome,” Addison has crafted mesmerizing “light-catchers” from leftover gel filter pieces, exploring the dispersion of natural light.

These installations emit vibrant hues, encouraging viewers to ponder the play of light in our environment. Accompanying the sculptures are interactive Kodaslide viewers displaying photographs, offering a dynamic blend of visual exploration and sensory experience. Join Addison at the SVAD Post MFA Residency Exhibition to celebrate art, light, and creativity.
