Pat spent her childhood in Atlanta, GA, and West Palm Beach, FL, eventually returning to Atlanta to work and attend college at Georgia State University. Her various work experiences there included retail sales, retail advertising, cocktail waitress, the Federal Reserve Bank, and as a practicing cartographer. From Atlanta she moved to Lawrence, KS, for post graduate work in cartography and then on to Victoria, British Columbia, for her first university teaching job. After four years there, she accepted a position at USC, where she taught cartography until she retired.
In this, her second life (post-retirement), she has devoted herself to art, primarily ceramic sculpture but occasionally fused glass and glass mosaics. She was a member of the Vista Studios artists group at 808 Lady St. for 10 years and now shares a new venue with many of the same artists at Stormwater Studios.
She has always had a love for art and feels fortunate to be able now to follow her passion and not necessarily a paycheck. A sale of her artwork always makes her smile, though.
