Announcing our new SVAD Studio Artist in Residence!
Curtis Tamm (b. 1987) is a media artist with a current practice in sound art. Tamm creates audio-libraries with recordings from geologically active countries such as Iceland, Greece, and Japan, which he uses to interpret and investigate the human potential to sense and process sounds when removed from their environments. He received his MFA in design and media arts from the University of California—Los Angeles in 2014. His debut solo exhibition, spelling for the protection against oneself, is currently on view at the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, Japan.
While here Tamm will work with participants at the SVAD Studio at Stormwater Studios and gather sound recordings in order to deep-listen to the boundary line of urbanization, as part of the Nature, Ecology, and Environment residency session.
3/21 Third Thursday
This Thursday is a Huger Arts District Third Thursday! Join the artists of One Eared Cow Glass, Lewis + Clark Lamps and Stormwater Studios as we celebrate another month of creative endeavors. Live music by Two Hats and a Ponytail. Composed of singer/songwriter Lang Owen, and poets Tim Conroy and Al Black, Two Hats and a Ponytail combine lyric songwriting with poetry filled with life, loss and hope.
Opening on Thursday is an exhibition of new work by Nikolai K. Oskolkov, featuring narrative paintings addressing the allure of surrounding life. With colorful landscapes, figures and portraits, “NikO” shares his emotional exploration of the places, people, experiences he loves to visit and remember… from the elegance of Venice to the passion of Georgia, from our warm American South to NikO’s lyrical Russian homeland.
