Sights Unseen: Gerard Erley’s Solo Exhibition of Luminous Landscapes
There’s still time to visit Resident Artist Gerard Erley’s Sights Unseen, on view at the Gallery at the Koger Center for the Arts in Columbia, SC. The exhibition runs through March 9, 2025.
Gerard created imaginary landscapes in oil paint on canvas and panels, rarely referencing photos or sketches. Instead, he paints in the studio from memory and intuition. The artist is influenced by 19th-century American and European painters such as George Inness, Corot, and Turner. Like them, Gerard seeks a sublime quality of light in his romantic landscapes.
Don’t miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in these luminous landscapes!
Meet Jon Glover: SVAD Resident Designer at Stormwater Studios
Jon Glover, originally from Edison, New Jersey, is a Studio Art major with a concentration in Design and Illustration, set to graduate in 2027.
Starting as a traditional artist, Jon transitioned into design, focusing on bringing the tactile quality of physical art into digital formats. His diverse portfolio includes animations, large-scale graphite portraits, assets for video essays, and brand identities. Central to his process is a love for experimentation and the satisfaction of learning through discovery.
As the resident designer in the SVAD Residency Program, Jon has cherished building connections with fellow resident artists, community members, and faculty mentors. These relationships have been a highlight of his residency experience.
After graduation, Jon looks forward to exploring new creative pursuits while continuing to refine his design skills. He plans to work at a design firm to connect with professionals in the field and embrace the freedom and opportunities that lie ahead.
